Some Great Links

These are just some of the places on the Web I like to visit. Helpful writing links can also be found on my Writing Resources page.

My daughter's website-- my creative DD, currently 16, taught me how to make this website when she was 12. She's into fantasy, dragons, Elf Quest, and writes her own poetry.  You can see her fabulous art at her deviant art pages.

Sanction, Inc.-- If you're in the market for Internet security or are in need of a wise and experienced computer consultant, this is the place to go... my husband's business!

Momwriters.com-- a great place to hang out. Look around for the yahoo email group, which is fantastically supportive for moms who write.

Betsy-Tacy website-- Maud Hart Lovelace's series of Betsy-Tacy books are about Maud's childhood growing up in Mankato, Minnesota, in the early 1900's. There are ten books in the series, and those of us who loved these books growing up continue to gather and discuss and celebrate the world of Betsy and Tacy.

Betsy-tacysociety.org --another great Betsy-Tacy website.

Woolenwhale.com-- a terrific website on rug hooking and folk art. One of my mother-in-laws (yes, I have two!) does the most beautiful woolen rugs and related products; she shows and sells them here.

Comfortqueen.com-- "The Comfort Queen" is a book by Jennifer Louden, who has several books out on the "comfort" theme, ("Women's Comfort Book"), all books to help people, especially women, take better care of themselves. The books and the website are great resources and fun to read.

Nataliegoldberg.com-- Natalie is a great writing teacher, and I've studied with her on numerous occasions.

Barbarakingsolver.com-- if you enjoy the writing of Barbara Kingsolver (like I do!) then her website is very fascinating, and gives lots of insight as to how she wrote some of her stuff.

Unitarian Universalism-- this links you to a FAQ, if you're interested in learning more about this wonderful but not-well-known religion.

Famous UU's-- a listing of some famous historical Unitarian Universalists. They don't teach you this in school! Here is another list of Famous UU's to check out, too.

NaNoWriMo.com-- the website for National Novel Writing Month. Every November, writers pledge to write a 50,000 word novel in one month, for fun!

Poet Laureate Billy Collins-- One of my all-time favorite poets. This site has lots of his poems, articles about him, and other great poetry and writing links.

William Steig-- after hearing news of his death, I discovered his website, and it really is a neat place to look around. If you've never read his children's books, I urge you to do so. He is so creatively quirky, wonderfully wacky!

Minnesota Public Radio-- my favorite radio station! Go and browse through their "programs" list... you can listen to most of their programs on the website.

Tracy Chevalier-- author of the fabulous "Girl with a Pearl Earring." Several of her books are based on art history, and she includes a lot of background info on this website.

Harry Potter website-- we are all wild about Harry in this house.
Chinaberry-- one of the best children's book catalogs I've ever seen!

New Century Reading-- a great website with current book reviews and articles about authors and books.

Air America Radio-- great lefty talk radio a la Al Franken. Humor and politics!
