Last week DH and I got to see our favorite group once again, the Indigo Girls. We've been big-time fans of Amy and Emily ever since I heard "Hammer and a Nail" and "Watershed" on Cities 97 fifteen years ago and told DH "you've gotta hear this." Then, as now, we were amazed by their harmonies, their provoking, heartfelt and even literary lyrics, wowed by their messages about the world. We've seen them at almost every opportunity, probably at least 15 times.
Last Thursday we got to see them from our 3rd row orchestra pit seats, tickets won from that same Cities 97. These were the best seats we've ever had, and it was a big thrill. They had no band, just the two of them standing their with their guitars and sounding so amazing. We danced, we sang along, we taped the show on my little cassette player (IG lets fans do this, as long as the bootleg isn't sold), and even the tape sound good.
If you haven't heard their latest CD: "All That We Let In," I encourage you to give it a listen. It's had great reviews!
And for now, we'll have to make do with our CDs and tapes... until they come to town again! Thanks for the great music, Amy and Emily!
Well, it's bee awhile... just took a break from blogging and website stuff. I've been busy with my writing class, where I'm working in-depth on scenes from my novel, turning them in for critique and then getting a lot of my classmates' work to read and critique as well. Had a proofreading job for money (yay!). Nursed our poor sick rat for two weeks... took her to the vet and all, but sadly she died. Much sadness here about that. Snowball really was a sweet rat. Even DH, not easily impressed by rodents, was fond of her, said she was more like a "little dog" in personality. Goodbye, Snowball.
Spring is here now, though you could hardly tell it on Saturday when it was 88 degrees and humid! Too hot too soon, for me. But now it is cool and rainy, a rain we needed desperately. Last week I saw my first ever in-person wildfire as I drove out to Eagan. You could see all the smoke and even the flames in the brush by 77. It was a biggie, too.
Otherwise, I'm finishing up my class, looking forward to the Indigo Girls concert tomorrow (3rd row seats!!), and thinking ahead to summer and what I'll do with the kids. I think we need to have some structure, and I don't have any plans for activities yet. I haven't signed them up for classes or camps-- sometimes that gets to be a lot for 3 kids, trying to figure that out AND pay the high prices. How can I keep them off constant computer use and keep me from going crazy... and get some writing done too? The big challenge.
Well, off to write!
